Michael Blainey is an experimental composer for film and television originally from Melbourne,  now based in London. As a self-taught multi-instrumentalist his unconventional approach draws upon influences from a huge range of classical and contemporary music.  Combining and processing organic, electronic and orchestral instruments into a moving tapestry of sound. His initial approach is to create music as a palate of colour and texture rather than a conventional melody . Michael is constantly looking to defy genre conventions and push the boundaries of music to picture as a highly sensory and visual experience. 

Recent compositions include scoring the feature film ‘Fatherhood’, the Sky TV / Hulu series ‘Bloods’ plus an audio/VR project with Sir David Attenborough.
